Farmville, Va. – A tropical trip, a series against Army and Navy and eight non-conference games against in-state foes highlight the 2019 Longwood baseball schedule.

Multiple big games dot the non-conference slate for head coach Ryan Mau‘s fifth year at the helm of the program. The Lancers host the 2018 Patriot League Tournament Champions in Army. Early in March, the team travels to Hawaii for a four-game series with the Rainbow Warriors. Plus, the Lancers will take on Virginia for the sixth straight season.

Longwood has five other in-state foes lined up in non-conference play with a home-and-home series against George Mason and Norfolk State and midweek contests against James Madison, VCU and VMI as well.

“This year’s non-conference schedule will prepare us for the Big South,” said Mau, whose 2019 team features 19 returners from 2018. “It is highlighted with a spring break trip to Hawaii, which I anticipate being an amazing team bonding opportunity that our players will never forget. The conference is strong from top to bottom and we are very excited about our team’s chances this season.”

The Lancers open the season with a four-game series at home against Maryland Eastern Shore beginning February 15. Over spring break, Longwood travels out to Hawaii for four games in five days from March 1-5, marking the first time in team history that the Lancers have played the University of Hawaii. The Lancers then return to Farmville for a three-game series against Albany.

Conference play starts up on March 15 when Longwood heads to Gardner-Webb, which will be the first time Longwood has opened conference play on the road since 2015. After hosting Charleston Southern, Longwood heads out for its longest road swing of the year—nine straight away from home from April 9-23.

Following that road trip, Longwood kicks off an 11-game homestand from April 26-May 12, highlighted by a non-conference matchup against Navy, the Patriot League Regular Season Champions. The Lancers wrap up their home schedule against Presbyterian beginning on May 10 and concluding with senior day on May 12.

Longwood finishes the regular season on the road at Campbell, the reigning Big South Champion, starting May 16. The Big South Conference Tournament runs the following week from May 21 to May 25 at the new Fayetteville Ballpark in Fayetteville, North Carolina.
