The University of The Incarnate Word has released their 2015 schedule which features a home opening series against the Northeastern Huskies. Matt Deggs joins Sam Houston State as the school’s eighth head baseball coach, Athletics Director Bobby Williams announced Friday. The former hitting coach for Louisiana-Lafayette, Texas A&M and Arkansas will bring his aggressive offensive approach to the Bearkats.
“I am very humbled and honored to have this opportunity and it is a privilege for me and my family to come be a part of Sam Houston State,” Deggs said. “I’m excited for the opportunity to lead the Bearkats in this new era of baseball and to be a great steward of the program that Mark Johnson and David Pierce did such a great job leading. Vincent Citro drove home the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th setting off a celebration 45 years in the making. Siena rallied from an early 7-0 deficit to shock #28 Dallas Baptist and the rest of the College Baseball World with a wild 9-8 victory Saturday at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth, the program’s first in NCAA Tournament play.
