CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The 2015 Big Ten Champion Illinois baseball team released its 2016 schedule, featuring 50 games and 18 matchups at Illinois Field. The Illini opens the season Feb. 19 at Tulane and the home schedule starts with a three-game series against Penn State March 25-27.

Ohio State pitcher Zach Farmer passed away on Tuesday after a 15 month battle with leukamania according to the Chillicothe Gazette. Farmer was declared cancer free back this spring and returned to throw out the first pitch in April. His cancer returned in mid July and his doctors couldn’t do much for him.

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Maryland head baseball coach John Szefc will serve a two-game NCAA suspension because of his ejection from Sunday’s Big Ten Championship game. Szefc was ejected during the top of the seventh inning by home plate umpire Jim Schaly in Maryland’s 4-3 loss to Michigan.
