At 99 we go to sophomore pitcher Gunnar Hoglund who is primed to break out in his second season at Ole Miss.

Hoglund was a highly touted prospect out of high school when he was drafted 36th overall in the 2018 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.

He turned down the money and decided to keep his commitment to Ole Miss.

Things didn’t go as hoped for the 6-foot-4 right-handed pitcher in his freshman season as he posted a 5.29 ERA in 16 games (16 starts) with 53 strikeouts in 68 innings pitched and a WHIP of 1.34.

Hoglund had his moments as a freshman picking up a win in his first SEC start after holding Alabama to just 1 earned run on 2 hits over 5 innings with 8 strikeouts.

He also held Texas A&M to just 2 runs on 5 hits over 6 innings, and he held down a very good Arkansas offense to just 2 runs on 3 hits over 6.1 innings with 6 strikeouts in 2019.

The righty will take on a much bigger role for Ole Miss in 2020, and he had a very good fall pitching two solid innings against Arkansas State with 4 strikeouts and two scoreless against Memphis with a pair of strikeouts.
