Western Kentucky Lends a Hand at Salvation Army

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Several members of the Western Kentucky University baseball spent time earlier this week lending a hand at the local Salvation Army.

Western Kentucky releases 2012 Schedule

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – The Western Kentucky University baseball team and head coach Matt Myers announced the schedule for the 2012 season Thursday. Highlighting the slate are a total of 16 games against teams that made the NCAA tournament last year, including three-game home series against FIU and Troy, along with hosting the 2012 Sun Belt Conference Tournament. Western Kentucky adds Brendan Dougherty to Coaching Staff

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Western Kentucky University head baseball coach Matt Myers announced Thursday that Brendan Dougherty has joined the Hilltopper coaching staff after spending six seasons at Coastal Carolina. Western Kentucky names Matt Myers Head Coach

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — Matt Myers, who has 18 years Division I experience as a head coach, assistant coach and student-athlete, and worked the previous four years as an assistant on the WKU staff, has been named WKU’s new head baseball coach, Director of Athletics Ross Bjork announced Monday. Chris Finwood named Head Coach at Old Dominion

Chris Finwood has been hired as the new head coach at Old Dominion according to Tom Robinson of The Virginian Pilot. Finwood has spent the last four seasons in charge of the Western Kentucky program including bringing them to the NCAA Tournament in 2009. This is the second time that current Old Dominion atheltic director Wood Selig would hire Finwood. NCBWA Releases 2011 Stopper of the Year Watch List

Wichita, Kan. (NCBWA) — Forty-five players have been named to the initial watch list for the seventh annual National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Stopper of the Year Award, given to the top relief pitcher in NCAA Division I baseball, as announced by the association Tuesday.

Sun Belt Conference Announces New Baseball Tournament Format

NEW ORLEANS – Following one of the most successful seasons in Sun Belt Conference baseball history the SBC baseball coaches decided to implement a new tournament format for the upcoming 2011 SBC Baseball Championship.

The new round-robin format, which is similar in scope to the Atlantic Coast Conference tournament, will feature eight of the ten SBC teams competing against each other in two four-team pools with the team with the best record in each pool advancing to the tournament’s championship game.
