FRISCO, Texas – Sam Houston State outfielder Mark Hudson has been named the Southland Conference Hitter of the Week and UT Arlington right-handed pitcher Jason Mitchell has been named the Southland Pitcher of the Week, the league office announced Monday.

Tyler Holt from Florida State hit for the cycle on Sunday in a 9-5 victory over the Maryland Terps. Holt picked up a single in the first, double in the second, triple in the third, and hit a homer in the fifth. Holt said the following about the cycle "It felt good, I got some good swings in. The first two hits – the single and the double – went my way and then I finally got some good swings and got the last two." Coach Mike Martin was fired up about the cycle as he stated: “There are two things that really fire me up when I am watching a game – a no-no and the cycle. That fired me up. I will be honest with you, I don’t go to rock concerts but I guess they light the lighters – I would have lit a lighter on that one."

The No. 21 Southeastern Louisiana baseball team clinched a third consecutive Southland Conference series win over Central Arkansas with a 5-4 victory Saturday at Alumni Field. The Lions improved to 22-2 overall and 7-1 in league play.

Cass Hargis went 3-for-5, driving in the eventual go-ahead run in a three-run fifth inning, and Tyler Watkins fanned seven batters in 5.2 innings as No. 17 Southeastern Louisiana held off a ninth inning rally by McNeese State to claim a 6-5 victory Friday night at Cowboy Diamond.

Lamar scored four runs in the first inning and that was all sophomore right-hander Eric Harrington needed to push the Cardinals to a 7-3 win over Nicholls at Ray Didier Field on Sunday to avoid a road sweep.

Bobby Shore tossed seven innings and limited Texas A&M-Corpus Christi to one run as the No. 15 Sooners (15-1) rolled to their 10th straight win with an 11-2 decision on Saturday in the Whataburger Collegiate Classic.

Texas State 20 Penn State 6
Texas State scored in all but two innings, rapped out 15 hits and capitalized on as many walks issued by Penn State’s pitching staff, all leading to a 20-6 rout of the Nittany Lions Friday night at Bobcat Field.
Texas State (6-6) is set to take the series with tonight’s win, while Penn State (4-6) falls in their fifth-straight game with the loss.
Southeastern Louisiana 4, Texas Southern 1
HAMMOND, La. – The 2010 Southeastern Louisiana baseball team now has the school’s all-time best winning streak all to itself. After tying the mark Friday, the Lions broke it Saturday, taking their 11th straight game to improve to 11-0 on the year. The 4-1 victory over Texas Southern also clinched the series for Southeastern.

Texas State 5, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi 3
SAN MARCOS, Texas – After trailing the majority of the game, Texas State spurred a four-run eighth-inning rally and earned its first win of the Southland Conference season with a 5-3 victory over Texas A&M-Corpus Christi Friday night at Bobcat Field.
Texas State improves to 4-4 on the season and 1-0 in league play, while A&M-Corpus Christi falls to 5-3 and 0-1, respectively.
