2011 Big South Preseason Poll Released

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (www.BigSouthSports.com) – For the fourth consecutive year, Coastal Carolina University’s baseball team has been voted the Big South Conference’s preseason favorite by the League’s Head Baseball Coaches, it was announced today by the Conference office.  In addition, the coaches voted Chanticleers’ redshirt-junior second baseman Tommy La Stella (Closter, N.J.) the Conference’s Preseason Player of the Year and Coastal Carolina junior Anthony Meo (Cranston, R.I.) the League’s Preseason Pitcher of the Year.

Top 100 Countdown: 47. Tommy LaStella (Coastal Carolina)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2011 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 47 with redshirt junior 2B Tommy La Stella from Coastal Carolina.  La Stella is from Closter, N.J.  attended St. Joes Montvale High School.  He was an All-State selection during his senior season, hitting .525 with 6 homeruns and 38 RBI.  He hit .542 with 5 home runs during his junior season. Cape Cod Baseball League Top Performers for July 4th

Athletics Department Here is your Cape Cod League Recap for July 4th. The best performance at the plate came from Tyler Bream of Liberty who went 5-6 with a run scored and drove in six runs for the Wareham Gatemen in a 15-4 victory over the Bourne Braves. The pitching wasn’t fantastic tonight at all with Luke Bard and Jarred Hippen having the best nights.
