Top 100 Countdown: 19. Barrett Barnes (Texas Tech)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 19 with Texas Tech junior outfielder Barrett Barnes. He is a 2009 graduate of Class 5A Fort Bend High School in Austin, Texas where earned varsity letters in baseball and was coached by Randy Ursery and Kenneth Sharp. Texas Tech releases 2012 Schedule

LUBBOCK, Texas – Texas Tech head baseball coach Dan Spencer announced the Red Raiders 2012 baseball schedule Tuesday morning.

The Red Raiders 56-game schedule is highlighted by 33 games at the newly renovated Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park, playing 32 games against 13 opponents that advanced to NCAA Regionals last season and with three games at the Houston College Classic at Minute Maid Park. Continue reading

Texas Tech announces hiring of Oklahoma’s Tim Tadlock

LUBBOCK, Texas – Regarded as one of the top recruiters in the country, former Red Raider student-athlete and Oklahoma assistant coach Tim Tadlock will return to Lubbock as associate head baseball coach, Texas Tech fourth-year head coach Dan Spencer announced today.

Tadlock, 42, spent the previous six years producing several of the nation’s top recruiting classes at Oklahoma while helping lead the Sooners back to the College World Series in 2010. Continue reading

UALR: Maroon 2 Silver 1

LITTLE ROCK – Junior Tyler Buckley pitched four scoreless innings to help the Maroon Team even UALR’s Fall World Series with a 2-1 victory over the Silver Team Wednesday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field. Sophomore Ryan Montgomery pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save as the two teams head into Saturday’s contest with the series tied at one game apiece. Continue reading

Western Michigan: Brown 10 Gold 5

KALAMAZOO, Mich.- Brown struck for three runs in the first inning and never looked back, clinching the annual Brown & Gold series with a 10-5 win in decisive Game 3. Senior left-hander Casey Webber (Tinley Park, Ill./Providence Catholic) started for the Brown and tossed three scoreless innings, striking out three and walking none. Continue reading

Rhode Island:  Keaney 3 Navy 2

Darkness forced the suspension of Game Two in the Keaney-Navy World Series on Friday evening, but when play resumed on Saturday, sophomore Joe Landi scored on redshirt junior Pat Fortunato’s single up the middle to give Keaney the 3-2 win, as well as its fifth consecutive KNWS title. Texas Tech Participates in Race For The Cure

LUBBOCK, Texas – The Texas Tech baseball program was among over 8,000 participants at the 2011 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure on Saturday morning at the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center.

Texas Tech head coach Dan Spencer and his son, Wade, participated in the 5K race while the team lined the streets and encouraged all of runners in the race and helped navigate the course. Continue reading
