The Citadel Media Relations Department has released the season preview for the 2007 season. The Bulldogs are coming off a 34-27 record in 2006. They return two out of the three weekend starters in Sophomores Wes Wrenn and Matt Crim. Senior pitcher Justin Smith is expected to make the move to the rotation for the season. The Citadel offense will need to replace shortstop Matt Matulia who was drafted by the Chicago Cubs. They also lost second baseman Tripp Cappelman who graduated last spring. They have a bunch of young talent coming in with a strong freshman class.

The Southern Conference has released its pre-season coaches poll and College of Charleston is the pick to win the conference behind All-American pitcher Nick Chigges. Western Carolina, Elon, and Georgia Southern round out the top four. The full poll and the pre-season conference teams are available here.

The Elon Baseball team has released their 2007 schedule. They open the season in the Springmaid Beach Resort Tournament hosted by Coastal Carolina where they will take on UVA, Coastal Carolina, and North Florida. They also have a trip to Miami to face the Hurricanes for a three game set before opening the season in the Southern Conference. They have big weekday home games against North Carolina, South Carolina, and Wake Forest to name a few. The full schedule is available here. The Citadel Baseball team has released its 2007 schedule with many interesting match-ups. They open the season with a 3 game set with East Tennessee State. The following two weekends they will host two tournaments. One of the tournaments will be hosted by The Citadel with Liberty, Richmond, and South Carolina participating. The other tournament will have old BC head coach Peter Hughes and VA Tech visiting, Minnesota, and UNC Asheville. In their last tournament, the Bulldogs travel to the Great White North by visiting the Diary Queen Classic which is hosted by Minnesota with Ole Miss and Arkansas filling out the field. The Bulldogs host the following Southern Conference schools this year for key 4 game sets: Elon, Wofford, College of Charleston and Georgia Southern. They will also visit Western Carolina, Appalachian State, Davidson, UNC Greensboro and Furman.
