In what goes down as one of the longest SEC Baseball Tournament games in history, the Mississippi State Bulldogs defeated the Missouri Tigers 2-1 in 17 innings late into the evening on Tuesday night. After an RBI by Hunter Renfroe tied the game at one-one in the bottom of the fifth inning, the game remained scoreless until the deciding RBI by Mitch Slauter in the bottom of the 17th.
The Ole Miss Rebels got a strong start from Mike Mayers in the opening game of the 2013 SEC Tournament with a 4-1 victory over the Kentucky Wildcats. Mayers went 6.1 innings allowing one unearned run to even his season record to 5-5. Kentucky’s Jerad Grundy got the loss giving up four runs in 5.2 innings.
