KINGSTON, R.I. – Rhode Island baseball head coach Jim Foster has released the team’s 2013 schedule, which includes seven games against teams that competed in last season’s NCAA tournament.
“Once again we have put together a very challenging schedule from start to finish,” said Foster. “We look at every game as a new and different opportunity for us to improve and make the adjustments necessary to be a good ball club.” Continue reading Rhode Island releases 2014 Schedule
So fall ball is officially over. This doesn’t mean we hang up the spikes and bundle up for the cold winter months ahead, though. Not only do we continue to hit in the barn, take ground balls on the turf, and tune our base running techniques, but we’ve incorporated a busy and demanding lift schedule into our weekly routine. Hello everyone. To start out I’d like to introduce myself. My name is Tim Caputo and I’m a junior here at the University of Rhode Island. I am studying Kinesiology, majoring in Exercise Science and I play infield for the Rhody Rams baseball team.
It’s about that time of year again to dust the dirt off of our spikes from summer ball and lace them up for another full season of hard work. Fall ball is the time when the new guys get to show their stuff and the veterans challenge these guys and introduce them to the lifestyle of being a college baseball player. It’s always fun to meet the new freshman and see which rookies will get the chance to make an immediate impact on and off the field. Continue reading 2014 CBD Journal with Tim Caputo (Rhode Island)

Sunday. It’s the most important day of the week. Unfortunately, in our conference-opening weekend last week, we were not able to execute on Sunday. That Dayton series was tough on us as a team as we didn’t play how we expected to and the results reflected that. The beauty of baseball however, at least most of the time, is that there is always another game right around the corner. Continue reading 2013 CBD Journal with Rhode Island’s Mike Le Bel (April 8th)
Pitching, defense, and timely hitting. Those three aspects of the game of baseball are what lead the Rhody Rams to a three-game sweep of Winthrop this past weekend. I really can’t express to the readers how proud I am of our team for the way we battled this weekend. There is no doubt that we did not start the season the way we had planned, but this group of guys refuses to give up. Day after day, we keep plugging away and continue to try to improve the way we play baseball. Continue reading 2013 CBD Journal with Rhode Island’s Mike Le Bel (March 21st)
Rhody Baseball is on the road again. We are currently traveling in a van, captained by Sports Information Director Jodi Pontbriand, on our way to Johnson City, TN for a two-game set against East Tennessee State. Jodi has been working at URI for seven years now and is a true professional at what she does. She’s also responsible for setting me up with this blog on CBD, and for that I would like thank her.
About half of the guys riding in our van right now are seniors. Throughout the rest of this post, I am going to do a little Q&A with each of them to give readers a better sense of what these guys are like… Continue reading 2013 CBD Journal with Rhode Island’s Mike Le Bel (March 11th)
