WILMINGTON, North Carolina – Drew Farber homered and knocked in both runs as UNCW fell to visiting Team USA, 9-2, in a fall baseball exhibition game on Saturday at Brooks Field.

CAPE COD, Mass. – Commissioner Paul Galop has announced the 2011 Cape Cod Baseball League All-League Team.
Heading the list of positional players is CCBL Most Valuable Player Travis Jankowski (Stony Brook) of Bourne, who hit .329 with 22 RBIs for the Bourne Braves, along with batting champion Stephen Piscotty (Stanford) of Yarmouth-Dennis, who hit .349, edging out fellow All-League catcher Dane Phillips (Oklahoma State) of Chatham by a mere .0002. Since the Cape Cod Baseball League announced their 2011 All-Star Game rosters on Friday, lets take a look at what conferences and college programs have had the most success this summer. The leading conference this year is the Pac-10 conference which features eight players from seven different school. Coming in second place is the SEC which has six players from four different schools. Interesting enough, the ACC and Big East conference both have four players in the game this year which speaks to how strong the the Big East over the last couple of seasons. EAST LANSING, Mich. – Mark Van Ameyde has been promoted to associate head coach, fourth-year head baseball coach Jake Boss announced Tuesday.
Van Ameyde, who has served as the Spartan pitching coach since the 2009 season, has been one of the key components to MSU’s success the past three years, including helping the program to its first Big Ten Championship in 32 years in 2011. MORGANTOWN, W.Va - The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending May 8, today. Michigan State senior 1B Jeff Holm was named National Hitter of the Week, while Kentucky junior RHP Alex Meyer and Texas State junior RHP Carson Smith were named Co-National Hitters of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. No. 1 Florida (10-1) used a three-run sixth inning to snap a 2-2 tie on its way to a 5-3 victory over No. 24 Miami (4-7) to complete a weekend sweep on Sunday afternoon in front of 4,114 fans at McKethan Stadium. The Gators had never been perfect against the Hurricanes in a three-game set in Gainesville and took all three meetings from the Hurricanes for only the second time in school history (Feb. 17-19, 2006).
