2012 ACC Preseason Coaches Poll Released

GREENSBORO, N.C. – North Carolina has been selected as the 2012 Atlantic Coast Conference baseball preseason favorite in a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches.

The Tar Heels were named by seven coaches as this year’s ACC team to beat, while Georgia Tech received four first-place votes and Florida State one. Continue reading


2012 ACC Baseball broadcast package will feature 43 games

GREENSBORO, N.C. – At least 43 games involving Atlantic Coast Conference baseball teams are scheduled to be carried nationally and/or regionally by ESPNU, ESPN2, ESPN3 and RSN (Regional Sports Network) during the 2012 season.

All 12 conference teams are represented on this year’s schedule. In addition, all 13 games of the ACC Championship will be televised live for the fifth straight year. The first four days of the tournament, set for May 23 through May 27 at Greensboro, N.C.’s NewBridge Bank Park, will be carried by RSN. The championship game, scheduled for noon on Sunday, May 27, will be telecast nationally by ESPN2. Continue reading


Maryland completes the Omaha Challenge

COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Across the country in November and December, college baseball programs engage in offseason strength and conditioning programs with the goal of readying themselves for the regular season, which begins in February.

2012 ACC Baseball Television Deal Announced

As part of ESPN’s new 12-year agreement with the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), ESPNU plans to televise nine consecutive weeks of ACC Olympic sporting events on Mondays at 7 p.m. during the spring of 2012 including six baseball games, two softball games and the women’s lacrosse championship. The final week, Florida State at Clemson baseball, will air on Monday, May 14, at 6 p.m. Continue reading

UALR: Maroon 2 Silver 1

LITTLE ROCK – Junior Tyler Buckley pitched four scoreless innings to help the Maroon Team even UALR’s Fall World Series with a 2-1 victory over the Silver Team Wednesday afternoon at Gary Hogan Field. Sophomore Ryan Montgomery pitched a scoreless seventh inning to pick up the save as the two teams head into Saturday’s contest with the series tied at one game apiece. Continue reading


Who has the Worst Uniforms in College Baseball?

Unless you live in a cave or under a rock, you saw the terrible Maryland Terrapins football uniforms that they featured last night on ESPN during their showdown with the Miami Hurricanes. Here are some of the worst uniforms in the history of College Baseball that we were able to come across. This includes some current day uniforms from Virginia Tech’s multiple crazy uniforms to Florida State playing with banana yellow uniforms (yes, pants too) during the late 80′s and early 90′s.

There are rumors that the Texas Longhorns had a full orange uniform in the 70′s or 80′s but we have not been able to confirm or deny the existence of such a uniform.

CBD Column: 2011 ACC Grades

College Baseball Daily kicks off our annual look back at how successful teams were during the 2011 season today as we look at the ACC schools. The conference sent two teams to the College World Series in North Carolina and Virginia. The Florida State Seminoles joined the Tar Heels and Cavaliers in the Super Regionals while Clemson, Georgia Tech, Miami (FL) and NC State all making the NCAA Regionals. 2011 All-ACC Baseball Team

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Clemson junior shortstop Brad Miller and Virginia junior pitcher Danny Hultzen head up the 2011 All-Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Team, as announced today by Commissioner John Swofford.

Miller was selected the ACC Player of the Year in a vote of the league’s 12 head coaches, while Hultzen was named the ACC Pitcher of the Year for the second consecutive season. Continue reading
