2012 CBD Season Preview: SEC

2011 was a year of confirmation for the SEC. Not only did South Carolina claim its second national championship in as many years, but SEC teams occupied the top three national rankings for the majority of the season. Furthermore, all three of those teams made the trip to Omaha, while seven teams from the SEC made the NCAA tournament—both tallies being the most of any conference in college baseball. In essence, 2011 cemented the SEC’s ascendancy atop college baseball, and 2012 promises to be more of the same.  Continue reading


Kentucky releases 2012 Schedule

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The Kentucky baseball team will play 34 games at Cliff Hagan Stadium and will face a grueling 30-game Southeastern Conference schedule for the 2012 season, it was announced by fourth-year UK head coach Gary Henderson on Monday.

“We are excited about our 2012 schedule,” Henderson said. “The team had a great, productive fall and is going to be fun to watch during the spring. With a 34-game schedule at Cliff Hagan, we feel like our fans will get a chance to enjoy watching this team throughout the year.” Continue reading

Kentucky’s Brian Adams prepares for Last Football Game

Kentucky sophomore wide receiver and outfielder Brian Adams will play in his last football game tomorrow when the Wildcats face off against the Tennessee Volunteers.  Adams has played in ten games this season with the football Wildcats making five catches for a total of 46 yards. Last baseball season saw Adams hit .288 with two homers and 13 RBI playing in 41 games. Some college baseball websites have Adams rated in the top ten prospects in the highly competitive SEC. Top 100 Countdown: 59. Trevor Gott (Kentucky)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 59 with Kentucky sophomore RHP Trevor Gott. The Lexington, Kentucky native attended Tates Creek High School where he was a five year letter winner under coach Dom Fucci. As a senior, he posted a 6-0 record and a 1.12 ERA with 76 strikeouts in 47.1 innings. He was named all-state as a junior and senior, earning regional player of the year accolades while being named first-team all-city for three seasons. Continue reading
