KENNESAW, Ga. – Kennesaw State head baseball coach Mike Sansing announced the signings of twelve top student-athletes to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Owls beginning in the 2009 season.
“This recruiting class, under the direction of recruiting coordinator Ryan Coe, is clearly the strongest class we’ve had since becoming Division I,” said Coach Sansing. “Coach Coe has taken a strong hold in our state and recruited not only great players, but excellent student-athletes with outstanding families. Cory Barton Hired as Assistant Baseball Coach at ULM
Cory Barton has been named assistant baseball coach at ULM, head coach Jeff Schexnaider announced on Tuesday. Barton’s hire is pending approval by the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors.
Freshman pitcher Deck McGuire threw 7 shutout innings and freshman shortstop Derek Dietrich and senior team captain Brad Feltes both hit monstrous home runs to left-center to lead the #17 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets to a 10-0 victory over the Owls of Kennesaw State. ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomore right-hander Alex White went six strong innings, and second baseman Kyle Seager drove in a career-best three runs for the second straight day in No. 2 North Carolina’s 8-1 win over Kent State Friday at the Coca-Cola Classic at The Winthrop Ballpark. MACON, Ga. – Stetson is the overwhelming favorite to repeat as Atlantic Sun Conference baseball champion in 2008 in the league’s preseason poll. The Hatters garnered eight of 12 first place votes in the poll conducted among the conference’s head coaches. Hatter outfielder Justin Bass and Lipscomb catcher Caleb Joseph split preseason Player of the Year honors, while Lipscomb’s Rex Brothers claimed Pitcher of the Year honors. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets picked up a victory on Tuesday with a 11-8 victory over Kennesaw State. Matt Wieters hit a three run homer in the bottom of the tenth inning for the walk-off victory for the Jackets. He also picked up the victory on the mound by pitching the ninth and tenth innings. He actually blew the save in the top of the ninth but made up for it in the tenth. The Jackets were swept this past weekend by Georgia Southern. The Yellow Jackets continue their homestand on Friday with a three game set with Illinois-Chicago. Kennesaw State will regroup and face off with a three game set at home with Western Carolina.
