St. John’s and Georgetown will get together over this weekend for a three game Big East series. The first two games of the series will be played in Washington DC at Shirley Povich Field while the game on Sunday will take place at new Citi Field in Flushing New York. The game will break the NCAA record for single game attendance as all 42,000 seats sold out in less then 45 minutes during the public offering. The previous record is 40,106 who saw the opening of Petco Park in San Diego when the San Diego State Aztecs played the Houston Cougars. Continue reading

PITTSBURGH – The University of Pittsburgh baseball team extended its winning streak to six games with a 5-0 shutout over Big East rival Cincinnati here today at Trees Field. Corey Baker pitched a complete-game shutout, scattering six hits while striking out five for his team-leading third win of the year.
The Panther offense was led by Frank Mercurio, who went 3-for-4 at the plate with two RBI including his third home run of the season, a solo shot that started the sixth for Pitt. Continue reading

Georgetown Baseball Announces Incoming Recruiting Class
– Head Coach Pete Wilk announced that Georgetown Baseball will be welcoming eight new players to the fold this upcoming season. Billy Cosmopulous, Nick Geary, Will Harris, Alex Johnson, Kevin Johnson, Bobby Kirby, Andy Lentz and Rand Ravnaas comprise the incoming class that will try and help the Hoyas move up in the BIG EAST pecking order.
