Collegiate Baseball Newspaper recently released their 2011 Preseason Division 2 Baseball Poll. Leading the poll to start the season is 2010 defending national champion Southern Indiana who finished last season with a 52-14 overall record. UC-San Diego comes in at number 2 after going 54-8. Rounding out the top five is Central Missouri at number 3, Georgia College and St. at number 4, and perennial power Tampa checking in at number 5. You can check out the full poll below. The NCBWA has put out their 2010 Division 2 Preseason National Poll and Regional Polls. Emporia State out of Kansas comes in at the top spot in the country with Southern Arkansas coming in at number two. Allendale, Mich. – The Grand Valley State baseball team (16-2) is ranked #1 in the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association poll that was released Tuesday (March 17). The Lakers received six first-place votes and 316 total points. The #1 ranking in the poll is Lakers’ first-ever seat atop a collegiate baseball poll. TUSCON, Ariz. — Now in its 20th season of competition at the NCAA Division II level, the Cal State Stanislaus baseball program has reached the top for the first time. Lynn University’s baseball team held strong at No. 1 in the country after a perfect week on the diamond. Chris Chavez helped the Fighting Knights go 3-0 and was selected as the Sunshine State Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his efforts. In the College Baseball Newspaper Poll, Ouachita began the season ranked ninth, but jumped four spots to No. 5. Tampa (3-0) jumped a spot to claim the top spot as UC San Diego (2-0) is second and Cal State Chico (3-1) third, while Emporia State (0-0) is fourth.
The Collegiate Baseball Newspaper has put out their Preseason Division 2 Poll. They have defending national champion Mount Olive (58-6) in the top spot. They are followed by the Tampa Spartans (42-11-1) who made the Division 2 College World Series last year before being eliminated by Ouachita Baptist. Tampa won the Division 2 title in 2006 and 2007. Mount Olive remained at No. 1 in the Collegiate Baseball Division II Top 30 for the fourth consecutive week and ninth time in the last 10 weeks.
