2011 CBD Season Preview: Ivy League

Last season, the Ivy League’s Gehrig Division was won by Columbia with a 14-6 record which was four games ahead of second place Pennsylvania who went 10-10. Cornell came in one game behind the Quakers at 9-11 while Princeton rounded out the division with a 6-14 record. The Red Rolfe Division was won by Dartmouth with a 13-7 record while Harvard and Brown tied for second place with 10-10 records. The Yale Bulldogs checked in last in the division with a 8-12 record.  Continue reading

2011 CBD Season Preview: WAC

The 2010 season saw the WAC Conference regular season title won by the Fresno State Bulldogs with a 16-8 conference mark which was 1.5 games better then second place teams Nevada and New Mexico State who each had 14-9 conference records. Hawaii came in fourth place with a .500 record of 12-12 while Louisiana Tech finished in fifth at 11-13. Coming in sixth place was San Jose State at 9-15 while Sacramento State finished in last with a 7-17 record. Continue reading

2011 CBD Season Preview: West Coast Conference

The West Coast Conference was dominated in 2010 by the San Diego Toreros who has a 19-2 conference record as they got the conference’s automatic bid into the postseason. They ended up getting sent to the Arizona State Regional where they went a disappointing 1-2 with both losses to Hawaii and the victory coming over Milwaukee. Portland came in second place in the conference with a 14-7 record while Pepperdine came in third at 12-9. San Francisco came in fourth at 10-11. There was a three way tie at fifth place at 8-13 with Santa Clara, Saint Mary’s and Gonzaga. Rounding out the conference was Loyola Marymount who went 5-16.

2011 CBD Season Preview: Atlantic 10

The Charlotte 49ers dominated the Atlantic 10 conference in 2010 by winning the regular season title with a 20-7 conference record. Xavier finished two games back with a 18-9 record while Rhode Island finished in third place at 17-10. St. Louis and Fordham tied for fourth place with 15-12 records. George Washington and LaSalle tied for sixth with 14-13 records. Umass and St. Joe’s tied for eighth place at 13-14 while Dayton finished in tenth place at 12-15. Richmond, Duquesne, and Temple finished in a tie for eleventh at 10-17 while St. Bonaventure finished last at 8-19. Continue reading

2011 CBD Season Preview: MAAC

The MAAC conference in 2010 was won by Canisius in the regular season with a 19-5 conference record. Marist came in second with a 16-8 record while Rider and Manhattan tied for third place with 15-7 records. Siena and Niagara tied for fifth place with 13-11 records. Fairfield finished in seventh with a 8-16 record while St. Peter’s finished in eighth with a 6-18 record and Iona finished last with a 3-21 conference mark.

2011 CBD Season Preview: ACC Coastal Division

Last season, the ACC Coastal Division was won by the Virginia Cavaliers as they finished with a 23-7 conference record. The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets came in second place with a 21-9 mark. The Miami Hurricanes only finished one game behind the Yellow Jackets in third place while the Virginia Tech Hokies finished with a 16-14 record. North Carolina finished in fifth spot with a 14-16 conference record while the Duke Blue Devils finished last at 8-22. Continue reading

2011 CBD Season Preview: Southern Conference

The 2010 season was a historic season for the Southern Conference.   After getting 2 teams in Regionals in 5 of 6 previous years, along with the SOCON tourney champion and regular season champion(The Citadel) 2 teams, College of Charleston and Elon earned an at-large bid putting 3 SOCON teams in NCAA postseason for the first time in history of the league. In 2010 the SOCON finished the season with 7 teams with RPI in the top 75. 2011 CBD Season Preview: Horizon League

Wright State won the 2010 Horizon League Regular Season title with a 17-6 overall record. Milwaukee finished in the runners-up position a game back with a 17-8 record while Illinois-Chicago finished third with a 15-9 record. Valparaiso came in fourth at 9-10 and Butler finished 11-13 for a fifth place finish. Youngstown State came in sixth with a 9-17 record and Cleveland State rounded out the conference with a 5-20 mark. Continue reading

2011 CBD Season Preview: Big Ten

Heading into the 2010 campaign, everyone was talking about the Ohio State Buckeyes being the class of the Big Ten but they would be talking about the Gophers instead. The Big Ten ended up seeing the first place Minnesota Gophers (15-9) and last place Penn State Nittany Lions (9-15) separated by a measly six games. Michigan ended up finishing second with a 14-10 mark while Iowa and Northwestern finished at 13-11 in a tie for third place. Purdue and Indiana were also tied with a 12-12 mark for fifth place. Michigan State and Ohio State tied for seventh place with a record of 11-13 and Illinois finished in ninth with a 10-14 mark while Penn State rounded out the standings with their 9-15 record. 2011 CBD Season Preview: Big South

The Big South was dominated last year by the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers as they went a perfect 25-0 on their way to the conference regular season title. The Liberty Flames came in second with a 19-8 conference mark. Radford finished in third place with a 15-11 record in the conference only a ½ game ahead of High Point for third place. VMI and Winthrop tied for fifth place with a 13-14 record while Gardner-Webb and UNC-Asheville tied for seventh with a 10-17 mark. Presbyterian College finished in ninth place with a 7-20 record while Charleston Southern rounded out of the conference with a 6-20 record. Continue reading
