We enter the final stretch of ACC play as many teams are taking the weekend off for finals or playing out of conference series so we only see Virginia Tech heading to Florida State and Boston College hosting Miami (FL) for the Friday-Sunday series. Clemson and Maryland will play a Saturday through Monday series.The rest of the conference teams are either off or playing in out of conference games. MACON, Ga. – In each of its first three years in the Atlantic Sun, Kennesaw State has improved its standing and on the heels of its runner-up finish in 2008, the A-Sun coaches have installed the Owls as the preseason favorite, the conference office announced on Thursday.
Led by the Preseason Pitcher of the Year, Kyle Heckathorn, the Owls received six of the 11 first-place votes outdistancing themselves from a bunched pack of Lipscomb, the 2008 conference champion, FGCU, the 2008 regular-season champion and Stetson. Brandon Anderson Named Assistant Baseball Coach At Temple
PHILADELPHIA – Brandon Anderson, an All-American and professional baseball player who played two seasons at Gloucester County College under current Temple head coach Rob Valli, has been named an assistant baseball coach for the Owls. Anderson is currently in his second season playing professional baseball for the Kalamazoo Kings of the Frontier League.
“Brandon has always been an extremely talented and highly motivated student of the game, so his transition from player to coach should be easy,” Valli said. “He will be an excellent coach and role model for our team.”
CARY, N.C. – Left fielder Kyle Shelton doubled three times and drove in two runs and third baseman Chad Flack reached the 200-RBI mark for his career to lead No. 2 North Carolina to a 9-2 win over North Florida Tuesday at Cary’s USA Baseball National Training Complex.
