Conference USA has released their players of the week for the period ending on March 11th. T.J. Hose of East Carolina and Todd McInnis are co-pitchers of the week. Hose set the stage for East Carolina to get a three game sweep over Cal-State Fullerton with a victory on Friday night. He went seven innings while only allowing three hits and only one run. Todd McInnis pitched into the eighth inning with a no-hitter against Alabama on March 6th. Kiki Vazquez of UCF was named the hitter of the week. He led the Golden Knights to a 5-0 record for the week. He hit .500 (7 for 14) with nine RBI and a slugging percentage of 1.000 for the week.

Cal State Fullerton will open the season on Friday against Stanford. Fullerton is expected to start All-American pitcher Wes Roemer on Friday to face off against Stanford ace Nolan Gallagher. The Saturday match up is Jeff Kaplan facing off against Jeffrey Inman. The Sunday match up will be Jimmy Bleich taking the mound for the Cardinal while Sean Urena will make his first appearance as a Titan. Fullerton lost a ton of talent from last year’s team but at Fullerton you reload instead of rebuilding. Stanford should be ready this season to contend for the Pac 10 crown like usual.

Scout.com article about the Cardinal
Wes Roemer and Jared Clark both of Cal State Fullerton have recently been injured according to Aaron Fitt of Baseball America. He states that Roemer has a broken pinky finger on his throwing hand. The Titans are trying to have Roemer pitch through the injury. Jared Clark is out for the 2007 season with a torn ACL. This a huge loss for the Titans since Clark hit five home runs last season and was expected to contribute significantly this season. There are also some more news in notes in this article from Aaron Fitt.
Cal-State Fullerton is picked to win the 2007 Big West Conference behind Head Coach George Horton. They will rely on Co-National player of the Year Wes Roemer and third baseman Evan McArthur to carry the load for the Titans. The full article about the poll is available here.

George Horton checks in with his comments on the team for the 2007 season after fall practice. He lost a ton of talent from last years team and has to replace them with inexperienced players if he wants to make it back to Omaha. The full season preview is available here.
The Cal-State Fullerton Titans and George Horton (one of my favorite managers) have released the 2007 Schedule. They will host Stanford, Arizona, and Rice each for three games series in the beginning of the season with a trip to UNLV thrown in just for fun (We know what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas). They will also play UCLA for three games (two at UCLA and one in Fullerton) and play a home and home with local rival USC. They also make two interesting road trips this season when they travel to East Carolina and Wichita State each for a weekend series. The Titans should continue to be at the top of the Big West conference and the national rankings.
Full Schedule available here.
There is some rumors on Southeast Baseball that Cal-State Fullerton Titans and the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles have scheduled a home and home series in the 2008 and 2009 seasons. Southern Miss will go to Fullerton in March of 2008 and Fullerton will be visiting Hattiesburg in March of 2009. This is a good series for the Eagles as it will give them three more games against top of the line competition in the respective years.
Interesting press release on the Cal State Fullerton Athletic Site which follows Vinnie Pestano first week after his Tommy-John Surgery. The slideshow can be seen here.
UNC heads to Alabama for a SEC-ACC matchup. UNC is a better team then Alabama with solid hitting and 2 first round picks in there pitching staff with Andrew Miller and Daniel Bard. UNC should sweep them in the series
South Carolina visits Georgia for the Super Regional. Georgia has a ton of good arms and a good pitchign staff as they should take this series.
Stanford at Oregon State should be a win for the beavers
Missouri at Cal St Fullerton is a very easy pick if you look at it on paper but Cal State will be taken to 3 games but win the series though.
Oklahoma at Rice will have the Owls come out on top.
Miami at Ole Miss is a win for the Hurricanes.
