STILLWATER, Okla. — Nine NCAA Tournament teams from last season highlight Oklahoma State’s 2015 baseball schedule, which was released today and includes 32 home games for the Cowboys at Allie P. Reynolds Stadium.
The Cowboys, the reigning Big 12 Conference champions, will host four league series on their home field, while their non-conference foes include the likes of Arizona State, Oregon State, Washington, UNLV, Wichita State, Dallas Baptist and Michigan. Dodgers ace starting pitcher Clayton Kershaw is having an outstanding season with the Dodgers which will lead him to the 2014 NL Cy Young Award as the most dominant MLB pitcher. Kershaw didn’t attend Texas but has a deep connection with the Longhorns program as UT pitching coach Skip Johnson serving as Clayton’s personal pitching coach. Now that the semester is in full swing I figured it was time for another entry. We are already four weeks into classes at West Point and over two weeks into our fall season. This is always a difficult time for college baseball players because there are no official NCAA games and no tournaments. It is a time to work on the little things, earn spots in the starting roster, and get to know the younger guys on the team. I personally welcome the fall for two reasons. One, it is the best time to begin coming together as a team as the foundation for the spring is being laid. Two, it provides an opportunity for guys to compete for a starting spot and show what they have been working on in the offseason. OMAHA, Neb. — Fans outside of TD Ameritrade Park waited to sing “Happy Birthday” to Vanderbilt outfielder Rhett Wiseman, who had turned 20 just minutes earlier at midnight. An umpire’s lack of evasive maneuvering turned a potential double play into a big momentum swing for the Longhorns, who took an early lead and never looked back, beating Vanderbilt 4-0 to force a winner-take-all matchup Saturday.
