Air Force releases 2011 Schedule

AirForceSchedule USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Head coach Maj. Mike Kazlausky announced the 2011 Air Force baseball schedule today. The 55-game schedule features 20 home games and non-conference road trips to six different states.

The Falcons will play a full Division I schedule for just the second time in program history (other year was 2005). Air Force will play non-conference series in the states of Texas, North Carolina, Arizona, Florida, Kansas and California. Continue reading

Service Academies Student Athletes Face More Challenges

F-16's We always hear of the excellent players from the service academies from Army’s Nick Hill to the more recent Clint Moore who is spending his summer in the Cape Cod Baseball League. Moore sacrificed his summer last year by doubling up his training thus allowing him the chance to play in the prestigious Cape Cod Baseball League. Moore is currently second in the league with a .344 average in 11 games while driving in five runs.

Air Force junior LHP Andrew Loyd recently took part in a Operations Air Force assignment at Luke AFB, Arizona where he had his first experience in a F-16. He details the experience below.

Maj. Mike Kazlausky Named Air Force Baseball Head Coach

MikeKazlauskyAirForce USAF ACADEMY, Colo. – Maj. Mike Kazlausky has been named interim head baseball coach at the Air Force Academy for the 2011 season, according to an announcement today from Director of Athletics Dr. Hans Mueh. Kazlausky, who is currently an Air Officer Commanding (AOC) for cadet squadron 12 at the Academy, will assume his duties at the end of the current baseball season.

Kazlausky will replace Mike Hutcheon, who after seven years at the helm offered his resignation upon completion of the 2010 season. Kazlausky, otherwise known as "Coach Kaz" is a 1991 Academy graduate and has logged six years as an assistant coach at the Academy.

Mountain West Recap for Feb. 21st

MountainWestConference COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – New Mexico took two of three from top-ranked Texas, winning Sunday’s rubber match (3-1). Also on Sunday, No. 11 TCU completed a three-game sweep of Sam Houston State with a 15-2 triumph, while UNLV won the finale of a three-game series with Sacramento State (18-14).

Mountain West Conference Recap for Feb. 20th

MountainWestConference COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. -New Mexico scored four unanswered runs to rally for a 6-5 upset of No. 1 Texas on Saturday, while No. 11 TCU won a 12-7 slugfest with Sam Houston State. Utah also collected a win in non-conference action, splitting a twinbill with UC Davis (7-1, 1-6).
