2012 College World Series Schedule Announced

OMAHA—The game times and pairings for the first two days of the Men’s College World Series have been announced. The 66th MCWS will take place at the TD Ameritrade Park Omaha in Omaha from June 15-25/26, 2012.

The first game on Friday is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m. (CT) and features the only first time participant, Stony Brook (52-13), against No. 2 national seed UCLA (47-14). Friday’s second game pits No. 3 national seed Florida St. (48-15) against Arizona (43-17), and is scheduled to begin at 8 p.m. (CT). Read the rest of this entry »

CBD Column: 2012 Gainesville Super Regional

NC State plays its first Super Regional game since 2008 on Saturday, but they face an extremely tough foe in No. 1 seed Florida.

But the No. 16 Wolfpack (43-18) still have a legitimate chance to advance to the College World Series, thanks to the arm of Carlos Rodon. On Wednesday, the freshman left hander was named the National Freshman Pitcher of the Year on Wednesday by Collegiate Baseball. He comes into the weekend with a 9-0 record, and a 1.61 ERA. 2012 Super Regional Hosts Announced

INDIANAPOLIS—The eight super-regional hosts were announced today by the NCAA Division I Baseball Committee.

A minimum of 45 hours of super-regional television will be provided by family of ESPN channels, ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. Consult local listings for specific games shown in each area of the country. 2012 NCAA Regionals Preview: Coral Gables

Coral Gables as a host site comes as a surprise to most, if not all of college baseball. The final host spot came down to a few SEC teams and an ACC team in Miami, and the selection committee opted to have a 3^rd regional in the state of Florida, with Miami joining Florida State and Florida as host sites. The Coral Gables regional features two teams from Florida, one from New York, and one from Missouri. Joining the University of Miami (FL), are the Knights of Central Florida from Orlando, the Bears of Missouri State, and the American East Champion Seawolves of Stony Brook. It’s been deemed one of the toughest regionals of all 16 host sites, and action of the double-elimination tournament gets under at 2 PM ET on Friday when the #2 seeded UCF Knights face off vs. #3 seed Missouri state. First seeded Miami will then battle the four seed Stony Brook at 7 PM. The winner of the Coral Gables Regional will match up with the winner of the Baton Rouge (LSU) regional.
