ACC Weekend Preview (April 15th-17th)

The ACC opens up the second half of the conference series this weekend with five different squads showing up in the latest NCBWA rankings while a sixth team in Miami is in the also receiving vote category.

Leading the ACC Atlantic Division is still the Florida State Seminoles who have a 9-6 conference record. Boston College is in second place with a 6-8 mark while Clemson is a half game behind them at 6-9. Both NC State and Wake Forest are 5-10 in conference play and Maryland is rouding out the division with a 3-12 mark. Continue reading

Big 12 Weekend Preview (April 8th-10th)

Weekend four of Big 12 action features a pair of in-state rivalries in Texas. Lubbock plays host to Texas Tech and Texas A&M. The Aggies had their seven game conference streak snapped by Kansas State last weekend, while Texas Tech was swept in Norman. #8 Texas plays a pair of games in Waco against Baylor before moving the Sunday contest to Austin.  Continue reading

ACC Weekend Preview (April 8th-10th)

The ACC enters the midpoint of the conference schedule this weekend with Florida State leading the Atlantic Division with a record of 8-4 with NC State in second place with a 5-7 record and Boston College in third place at 4-7. Clemson and Wake Forest are tied for fourth place at 4-8 while Maryland rounds out the division with a 2-10 record. The Coastal Division is led by Georgia Tech and Virginia with identical 11-1 marks. North Carolina is right on their heels with a 10-2 record in third place. Miami is a game behind the Tar Heels with a 9-3 record while Duke is 3-9 and Virginia Tech is at 1-11. Continue reading

Big 12 Weekend Preview (4/1-4/3)

As we enter the third weekend of Big 12 play, some teams are playing as expected, while other teams have stumbled out of the gate. Texas A&M has bolted out of the gate, defeating Oklahoma in the opening weekend, then shutting down the Jayhawks in week two, giving up only three unearned runs all weekend. Texas is tied for second in the league, getting by on their strong pitching, while battling to overcome a weak offense. Dan Spencer has his Texas Tech squad in a good position, tied with the Longhorns for second place. The Red Raiders are the opposite of Texas, a potent offense with a question mark on the mound. ACC Weekend Preview (April 1st-3rd)

The fourth weekend of action kicks off today in the ACC with the Florida State Seminoles leading the Atlantic Division and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets leading the Coastal. The Seminoles enter the weekend with a 6-3 record while both Clemson and Boston College are tied for second with identical 4-5 records. NC State and Wake Forest are tied for fourth place with 3-6 marks while Maryland rounds out the division at 1-8. The Yellow Jackets lead the Coastal Division with a perfect 9-0 record with Virginia in second place with a 8-1 mark. North Carolina is third at 7-2 and Miami is fourth at 6-3. Duke is 2-7 for fifth place while Virginia Tech is in last place at 1-8.  Continue reading

SEC Weekend Preview (April 1st-3rd)

The SEC enters the third weekend of play with Vanderbilt, South Carolina and Florida tied for first place in the Eastern Division with 4-2 records. Vanderbilt took two out of three games in each of their SEC weekends with Arkansas and Mississippi State. South Carolina also took two out of three from Georgia and Florida. The Gators swept the LSU Tigers in Baton Rouge on the opening weekend before losing two out of three to South Carolina. Georgia is in fourth place with a 3-3 record, while Tennessee and Kentucky round out the division in a tie for fifth place with a 2-4 record. Continue reading

SEC Weekend Preview (March 25th-27th)

The SEC enters their second weekend of conference play with the Florida Gators leading the SEC Eastern Division with a perfect 3-0 record. Kentucky, South Carolina, and Vanderbilt are all tied for second with 2-1 records while Georgia and Tennessee are tied for fifth place with 1-2 marks. The Western Division is led by the Alabama Crimson Tide and Auburn Tigers who have identical 2-1 records. Arkansas, Ole Miss and Mississippi State are tied for third place with 1-2 records while the LSU Tigers round out the division without recording a win in their first three games. Continue reading

The ACC enters the third weekend of play this weekend with the Florida State Seminoles leading the Atlantic Division with a 4-2 conference record. The Clemson Tigers are in second with a 3-3 mark while Boston College and Wake Forest are tied for third at 2-4. Maryland and NC State are in a tie for last place at 1-5. The Coastal Division is led by the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and the Miami Hurricanes who have a perfect 6-0 record through the first two weekend of play. Virginia is in third place with a 5-1 conference mark while North Carolina is fourth at 4-2. Rounding out the division is Duke at 2-4 and Virginia Tech at 0-6. Continue reading

Big 12 Weekend Preview (3/24-3/26)

The Big 12 kicks off their second week of conference play today with a five-series slate. Making their conference debuts, Missouri hosts #8 Oklahoma, while Nebraska travels to Lubbock, Texas to take on Texas Tech.

Week one didn’t go as expected. Texas jumped into first place after a sweep of a solid Kansas State team, while favorite Oklahoma scored only four runs in a series loss to Texas A&M in Norman. Texas Tech and Baylor put on quite a display of offense in Waco. Texas Tech overcame large deficits in the final two games, including a 10-6 victory to seal the series on Sunday. Kansas was the surprise, taking a pair of games from Oklahoma State in Stillwater. Continue reading

SEC Weekend Preview (March 18th-20th)

The SEC opens up conference play this weekend with four schools ranked in the top seven in the country led by number 1 ranked Vanderbilt. The biggest series of the weekend features the number 2 ranked Florida Gators visiting number 7 ranked LSU. The other weekend matchups sees Georgia going to number six ranked South Carolina, eleventh ranked Arkansas visiting 26th ranked Auburn, Alabama going to Ole Miss, and Tennessee visiting the Kentucky Wildcats.  Continue reading
