I have made several changes to the site over the last week or so to make it much easier for our readers to comment on articles. We have decided to use Disqus which allows our readers to comment on Twitter, Facebook, Disqus, OpenID, and Yahoo. If you have any of these accounts, you may comment using your login for the respective service.
Since we are now in the dead time of the college baseball season, I thought this would be a good chance to update the writers on the state of The College Baseball Blog. We have experienced immense amount of growth since our old blogger site back in 2005. We moved over to the current domain back in November of 2007.
Today is the biggest day in the year for many of the top programs across the country as they will see if their signees will sign professional contracts or head to college for the next three seasons. The CBB staff has you covered with the latest breaking news on our Twitter account @TheCBB which will be updated throughout the day from Brian Foley, Mark Rafferty, Donald Boyles, Katherine Hasenauer Cornetta, William Knox and Sam Wasson with the latest information that becomes available.
As many of our readers have recognized, I have put up a new system of making comments. The new system allows you to use many different services to give comments including Twitter, Facebook, Disqus, OpenID, or your Yahoo account. I think this will give us many more comments and feel free to leave your thoughts below on your impressions on the new comment system. Also, if you have a question on how the new system works feel free to email me as always by clicking here.
Mark Rafferty and myself are both at the 2010 College World Series and we are sending out one update per half inning about the action at hand. Today’s games are between South Carolina and Arizona State while the nightcap is between Oklahoma and Clemson. In case your looking for it, The College Baseball Blog will be putting out our 2010 College World Series Preview on Thursday. We will be previewing each team and will make our prediction for which two teams will face off for the title in the Championship Series.
I know that we are in the middle of the Super Regional round of the 2010 NCAA Tournament but the biggest sporting event in the world is about to start up on Friday. I have started up a 2010 World Cup pickem group on ESPN which is free to join and I highly encourage everyone to join as we might be giving out a prize depending on the amount of people that join. The group name is called “The College Baseball Blog” and should be able to be accessed by clicking here.
We have posted some great original content over the last day or so. We ended up previewing five different conferences from the ACC to the WAC. Also, Kat Cornetta did an excellent article on Virginia head coach Brian O’Connor who is looking to lead the Cavs back to Omaha this year. The Cavs made the schools first appearance in the CWS last season and are looking to get back.
The College Baseball Blog’s main advertising partner Yardbarker is asking for our readers to fill out a brief survey about their internet habits. I know that this might be out of the ordinary but they are trying to improve the ads for this site and others across their network.
You can check out the full survey by clicking here.
