Troy’s Bobby Pierce set to retire at end of 2015; Mark Smartt named Succesor

TroyBaseballTROY, Ala. – Troy University baseball head coach Bobby Pierce announced at a press conference Wednesday that he will retire following the 2015 season; his 13th season as the coach of the Trojans. Pierce, who is 15 wins shy of surpassing Chase Riddle for the most in school history, informed his team at a meeting Tuesday night.

“Troy University, the Troy community and the entire Trojan nation have been nothing short of phenomenal to me, my family and our program over the years,” Pierce said. “I have put everything I have into playing and coaching for 51 years of my life. When you invest that much for that long, your tank runs a little low.” Continue reading

Interview With New Mexico State Head Coach Brian Green

New Mexico State officially names Brian Green as Head Coach

UKBaseballLAS CRUCES, N.M. – New Mexico State University Athletics Director Dr. McKinley Boston announced on Friday, July 25 that Brian Green will be the 10th head coach in NM State baseball program history.

Green, a graduate of the 1995 class at New Mexico State, comes back to his alma mater after coaching for six seasons as an assistant at Kentucky. In 2014, he directed the best offense in college baseball and in Kentucky history. Green was UK’s offensive coordinator and infield defensive coach.

Longwood names Ryan Mau as Head Coach

FARMVILLE, Va. — Longwood University Director of Athletics Troy Austin has announced the appointment of Ryan Mau as the fourth head coach of the Lancers’ tradition-rich baseball program. Mau, with 12 years of collegiate coaching experience, has been an assistant coach at the United States Naval Academy for the past four seasons, serving as the recruiting coordinator, as well as the pitching and catching coach.

“Ryan has established himself as a tireless recruiter and a stellar coach,” said Austin. “I have quickly come to learn that he has a passion for developing young people and a strong desire to lead the Longwood Baseball program. I am excited for Ryan to join the Longwood Family and I look forward to working with him to advance the Longwood Baseball program.” Continue reading
