NCBWA names Pro-Line Athletic Players of the Week for April 13th

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA)­ released the Pro-Line Athletic National Player of the Week awards for the period ending April 13, today. Missouri senior outfielder Jacob Priday was named National Hitter of the Week, while San Diego State’s sophomore right-handed pitcher Stephen Strasburg was named National Pitcher of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season. NCBWA Division I Poll – Apr. 14, 2008

DALLAS – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association continues its tradition of NCAA Division I polls for the 11th year with its 2008 weekly surveys. Polls will be circulated from Feb. 25-June 30 following the NCAA World Series in Omaha, Neb.

The poll voters come from 30 college baseball writers and related media persons from throughout the nation. This week’s poll has representation by 11 different conferences among the 298 baseball-playing schools in the 2008 NCAA Division I ranks, and 15 total leagues have had teams in the Top 30 in ’08. NCBWA NAMES PRO-LINE ATHLETIC PLAYERS OF THE WEEK

NC State senior first baseman/outfielder Ryan Pond was named National Hitter of the Week, while Washington junior left-handed pitcher Nick Haughian was named National Pitcher of the Week.
