Columbia, S.C. – Freshman right-handed pitcher Sam Dyson struck out eight batters in a career-high seven innings and Reese Havens hit his seventh home run of the year as South Carolina defeated College of Charleston 5-3 on Wednesday evening at Sarge Frye Field. The Gamecocks improve to 16-6 on the year while the loss drops College of Charleston to 16-8. CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman catcher Yasmani Grandal drove in the game-winning run after junior Dave DiNatale hit a two-run game-tying single in the bottom of the eighth as No. 2 Miami rallied to defeat Bethune-Cookman, 7-6, Wednesday night at Mark Light Field. Junior Frank Pesanello hit what was the eventual game-winning, pinch-hit, three-run homer in the top of the eighth inning to guide the Northeastern University baseball team to an 8-6 victory over the Rhode Island Rams at Bill Beck Field in Kingston, Rhode Island on Tuesday evening.

Pesanello’s homer was his sixth of the season, putting him second on the team behind captain Mike Lyon, who has eight on the season. Lyon, who has been anchoring the Husky attack all season, led the team with three hits, including two doubles, an RBI and a run scored. TAMPA, Fla. — Sophomore Chase Anderson struck out six batters and junior Trey Sperring had three RBIs in Oklahoma’s 6-1 victory on Tuesday over South Florida at Red McEwen field. The win improved the Sooners’ overall record to 16-5 while the Bulls fell to 10-7.

In his fourth start of the year, Anderson delivered his best outing as a Sooner, striking out a season-high six batters. Anderson (2-1), who struggled in his last start allowing four runs in 1 1/3 innings against Washington State, limited the Bulls’ offense on Tuesday to one run off five hits and two walks. College of Charleston set to visit The Citadel

One of the top matchups on Tuesday night is when the College of Charleston Cougars visit The Citadel in a battle between the two Charleston SC schools. College of Charleston comes in with a 10-3 overall record where all the games have come in the friendly confines of The CoC Baseball Stadium at Patriot Point.
