Rick McCarty Joins Redhawks Baseball Coaching Staff
Southeast Missouri State head baseball coach Mark Hogan announced today that Rick McCarty will join the Redhawks coaching staff as the new pitching coach in the 2008-09 season. Temple Baseball Adds Five To Recruiting Class

The BYU Cougars open the season on the road in Stillwater, Oklahoma on February 20th against the OSU Cowboys and then play Manhattan College on Saturday in Stillwater. The Cougars will then make a trip to Waco to play the Baylor Bears in a two game set on Monday and Tuesday before returning home to play their first home game of the season against Portland in a 3 game set starting on Thursday the 26th of February.
Team USA opens play on Friday with a game against Korea at 4:30 am eastern time. They have a perfect record this summer of 16-0 after winning Haarlem Baseball Week. We will take a look at some of the top hitters on the team and top pitchers for the squad for the FISU tournament. Continue reading →
I know we don’t cover Minor League baseball in general but the 2008 USA Baseball Team was announced today with a bunch of players with collegiate experience in the last few seasons including one player who will be entering his junior season at San Diego State in the fall. I know it is early but we have come across two schedules for the 2009 season.
The first one is the University of Oregon who returns to playing College Baseball after a long absence. They will be led by longtime Cal-State Fullerton coach George Horton who is assembling a great team for the Ducks. They will open the season on Feb. 20th when they start a four game set at Saint Mary’s. The Ducks will open up their new home stadium on Feb. 27th against defending National Champion Fresno State as they visit for a three game set. Following that visit, they will head to Washington for two non-conference games. Continue reading →
Cashner signs with Cubs
Pitcher is third Frog to sign professional contract
FORT WORTH, Texas – Andrew Cashner, the 19th overall pick in the 2008 MLB Draft, has inked a contract with the Chicago Cubs. He becomes the third Horned Frog to sign a professional contract this summer. As part of the deal, the right-handed pitcher receives an invitation to the 2009 big league Spring Training camp in 2009.
Cashner will be on-air with Cubs broadcaster’s tonight during the Cubs’ game with Cincinnati. Tomorrow afternoon, Cashner will throw out the first pitch at Wrigley Field prior to the start of the Cubs’ series finale with Cincinnati. Continue reading →
FORT WORTH, Texas – The No. 18 TCU Horned Frogs never say die approach in games reared its head as they battled back from an 8-2 deficit with six runs in the last two innings to tie the game. The comeback was not to be, though, as No. 5 Oklahoma State’s Jordy Mercer capped a career-day with his third home run of the game in the bottom of the ninth to give the Cowboys a 9-8 victory in the Stillwater Regional. Bryan Kervin drove in four runs in his final game in the Purple and White with a home run and a double. TCU finished another outstanding season with a 44-19 record. Continue reading →
