Bethune-Cookman’s Peter O’Brien set to transfer to Miami

Former UM broadcaster Justin Antweil has confirmed the Internet Reports that Bethune-Cookman catcher Peter O’Brien will be transferring to Miami. (Link) O’Brien was one of the top catchers in the country in 2011 at Bethune-Cookman while being selected in the third round by the Rockies. He was not able to come to an agreement with team making him eligible to return to school. He is expected to appeal to the NCAA for a waiver to become eligible for the 2012 season.  Continue reading


Jason Beverlin named Head Coach at Bethune-Cookman

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University Athletic Director Lynn W. Thompson announced today, July 26, that an agreement in principal has been reached with Jason Beverlin to become the Wildcats’ new Head Baseball Coach.

Beverlin, 37, was the pitching coach at the University of Tennessee and played professionally with the Cleveland Indians and Detroit Tigers after being selected by the Oakland A’s in the fourth round of the 1994 Major League Draft. Continue reading


Koerner Named NCCU’s Head Baseball Coach

DURHAM, N.C. ( – With more 10 years of collegiate coaching experience at both the NCAA Division I and III levels, Jim Koerner has been named the head baseball coach at North Carolina Central University. Koerner is coming to NCCU from the University at Buffalo, where he helped build the Division I Bulls baseball program as assistant coach and recruiting coordinator since 2005. Continue reading

UCF 16 Bethune-Cookman 5

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. ( – In a span of three-consecutive pitches in the seventh inning, No. 2 UCF scored five runs and eventually plated 13 runs in the final three innings to defeat No. 4 Bethune-Cookman, 16-5, in the NCAA Tallahassee Regional Saturday. TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The No. 3 seeded University of Alabama baseball team posted a 5-3 win over the No. 2 seeded Central Florida Knights in the opening game of the Tallahassee Regional from Dick Howser Stadium on Friday afternoon.
