Purdue (31-6) remains on top for 4th consecutive week. The Boilermakers won 12-2 at Illinois-Chicago Wednesday before they traveled to Nebraska in the Big 10 series of year to date. Purdue took game 1 Friday 8-5 and Nebraska evened series Saturday with an 8-3 win. Purdue won the series with an 8-3 win of their own on Sunday. With the series win Purdue sits in first place in Big 10, 3 ½ games ahead of Michigan St and Minnesota, at 12-3. According to warrennolan.com Purdue’s RPI is 11 which have them in very good position to host a regional. For the second week in a row there is a new #1. TCU (11-6) moves up 2 spots to take over the top spot. The Horned Frogs had a perfect 5-0 week, beating Texas Tech on Tuesday, winning at UTSA Wednesday and sweeping UNLV on the road to open Mountain West play.

Edison, N.J. – Canisius College has been chosen as the favorite to win the 2012 MAAC Baseball Championship, according to a preseason poll voted on by the league’s nine head coaches.
An extremely close vote saw Canisius top the poll with 61 points followed by Rider University with 60. Manhattan College was picked third with 59 points, while Iona College was fourth with 56. Marist College finished with 53 points, followed by Siena College (43), Fairfield University (42), Saint Peter’s College (16), and Niagara University (15).
