FORT WORTH — Sam Houston State staved off elimination with a 9-2 win over Siena to reach a second NCAA Regional final in the last three seasons. The Bearkats (43-18) will get a rematch with TCU (44-15) Sunday at 7 p.m. If the Kats beat the Horned Frogs Sunday the two teams will meet again Monday night at 7 p.m. Continue reading

Siena 9 Dallas Baptist 8 (10 innings)

Vincent Citro drove home the game-winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 10th setting off a celebration 45 years in the making. Siena rallied from an early 7-0 deficit to shock #28 Dallas Baptist and the rest of the College Baseball World with a wild 9-8 victory Saturday at Lupton Stadium in Fort Worth, the program’s first in NCAA Tournament play.

FORT WORTH — Travis Lee came up with another big two-out hit, as he drove in the game-winning run in the eighth to give Sam Houston a 2-1 win over Dallas Baptist in the opener of the NCAA Regional. Canisius’ Siddall getting support from his Griffs

Canisius sophomore Brett Siddall had a strong freshman season but what he had to overcome before his freshman season was outstanding. Siddall’s youngest brother Kevin was fighting with non-Hodgkins lymphoma which he eventually would lose his battle with six months after being diagnosed. Siddall was able to make the trip on the weekends to see his brother even through he was preparing for his freshmen season. Continue reading

Rider releases 2014 Schedule

LAWRENCEVILLE, NJ—With remnants of the last two snow falls still covering Sonny Pittaro Field, the Rider University baseball team is preparing for the 2014 season opener in three weeks.

“I don’t think anybody has enough time to prepare,” said head coach Barry Davis, the 2013 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Coach of the Year, “but there are teams in our league who are going to play before us. This forces you to get ready.” Continue reading

Canisius releases 2014 Schedule

MikeMcRaeCanisiusCoach Mike McRae has announced the 2014 schedule for the Canisius baseball program, which features 56 games against 24 opponents and ties a program-record with 21 contests at the Demske Sports Complex.

For the fifth consecutive season, Canisius will open the season at the USA Baseball Complex in Cary, N.C. This year’s four-game series will start against Albany on Feb. 14, and also include games against Saint Joseph’s, Butler and Michigan State. The Griffs will play non-conference series at Charlotte, East Tennessee State and Norfolk State before playing in the Flyer Classic against Miami University and Dayton on March 15-16. Manhattan releases 2014 Schedule

ManhattanFieldRIVERDALE, N.Y. – The 2014 Manhattan College baseball schedule is out and features three NCAA Tournament teams from last year among the 53 regular season contests for the Jaspers.

Manhattan will open the 2014 campaign on Friday, February 21 at the Campbell Invitational in Buies Creek, N.C. The Jaspers will start and end the weekend against Delaware, sandwiched around two games against the host Camels. Continue reading
