Butler releases 2015 Schedule

ButlerLogoSmallINDIANAPOLIS — The Butler baseball team’s 2015 schedule has been unveiled by Head Coach Steve Farley after posting an overall record of 20-30 in the 2014 season, while going 7-11 in BIG EAST play. The Bulldogs will return junior infielder Chris Maranto and his .309 batting average with hopes of qualifying for the 2015 BIG EAST Conference Tournament at TD Ameritrade Park in Omaha, Neb., which will be held May 21-24, 2015. Ed Blankmeyer named 2015 Collegiate National Team Manager

BlankmeyerSt.Johns_thumb.jpgDURHAM, N.C. — USA Baseball officially named St. John’s University head coach, Ed Blankmeyer, as the manager for the 2015 USA Baseball Collegiate National Team on Tuesday. Blankmeyer previously served as an assistant coach on the 2010 Collegiate National Team that posted a 16-3 record and captured the silver medal at the FISU World University Baseball Championships in Tokyo, Japan.

“We are thrilled to have Ed lead the Collegiate National Team program in 2015,” said Paul Seiler, USA Baseball’s executive director/CEO. “He has Team USA experience in 2010, as well as an impressive resume in two decades at St. John’s, and, most importantly, a passion for coaching student-athletes to succeed.” Continue reading Ed Blankmeyer named 2015 Collegiate National Team Manager

Villanova releases 2015 Schedule

VillanovaTeamPhotoVILLANOVA, Pa.–Head coach Joe Godri, who begins his 14th year leading the Wildcats, announced his team’s schedule for the upcoming 2015 season on Tuesday afternoon. Villanova will play at least 24 home games during the regular season, with the 55-game schedule highlighted by six consecutive home weekends in March and April.

A large non-conference slate (37 games) gives the Wildcats a chance to face strong competition from around the country while taking the field against both traditional rivals and brand new opponents. When the calendar turns to the beginning of conference play, Villanova will play 18 regular season BIG EAST games and vie for one of four spots in the postseason conference tournament. 2015 Big East Preseason Poll Released

BigEast.jpgNEW YORK – For the second-straight season, the voting for preseason favorite is split by just one vote, this time in favor of St. John’s, who was the BIG EAST baseball coaches’ decision for No. 1 with 32 total points, three first-place votes. Creighton, last year’s regular-season champion was picked second with 31 points with Seton Hall a close third at 29 votes. Creighton and Seton Hall split the final four first-place votes evenly. St. John’s releases 2015 Schedule

BlankmeyerSt.Johns_thumb.jpgQUEENS, N.Y. – St. John’s head baseball coach Ed Blankmeyer, the winningest coach in program-history, has released the 56-game schedule for the upcoming 2015 season, his 20th at the helm. The schedule features a total of 11 games against seven teams that qualified for the 2014 NCAA Tournament. In addition to playing games in 10 different states, the Red Storm will have 29 games at Jack Kaiser Stadium.

“Our objective has always been to play the best competition possible and this will be a challenging schedule,” said Blankmeyer. “The pre-conference schedule is filled with NCAA Tournament caliber squads, so we will be tested from Opening Day. Georgetown releases 2015 Schedule

PeteWikGeorgetownWASHINGTON – Head Coach Pete Wilk and the Georgetown University baseball team announced the schedule for the upcoming 2015 season. Highlighting the spring slate is four non-conference games against teams that participated in last season’s NCAA Tournament, including a matchup with Virginia, the 2014 College World Series runners-up.

The Hoyas will open the year the same way they did last season, with three games in Winston-Salem, N.C., on the weekend of February 13-15. Taking part in the Wake Forest Invitational, GU will start the season against VCU, a team that went 37-20 out of the Atlantic 10 last year. Xavier releases 2015 Schedule

ScottGooginsXavier_thumb.jpgCINCINNATI – Head coach Scott Googins and Xavier baseball have officially announced their 2015 baseball schedule, which features a full slate of 55 games and 16 home tilts.

The defending BIG EAST Conference Tournament champions will host Seton Hall, Georgetown and Butler in league play while welcoming local opponents Wright State, Miami, Northern Kentucky, Cincinnati and Dayton to Hayden Field. Continue reading Xavier releases 2015 Schedule

Creighton Baseball releases 2015 Schedule

CreightonBaseballOMAHA, Neb. – The Creighton baseball team announced its 2015 schedule, featuring 27 home games on Friday, Oct. 10. In addition the Bluejays will host the 2015 BIG EAST Tournament in late May.

Creighton opens 2015 with a little coast-to-coast travel, playing at Cal State Bakersfield (Feb. 13-15) then to Louisiana for back-to-back series at Northwestern State (Feb. 20-22) and at Tulane (Feb. 27 – March 1).
