The University of Alabama at Birmingham has released a new style for their hats for the coming season. The hats resemble Alabama Crimson Tide but are Green and Gold instead. The full article is available here.
SeBaseball has posted a preview of Conference USA this season. They expect Rice and Tulane to battle with Houston to finish in the top 3 of the conference. They expect Rice to edge out Tulane. The rest of the conference is improving but still not at the same level of the perennial powers of Rice and Tulane. The full article is available here.
Rivals has released their top 25 for the upcoming season. The top team is Rice with UNC, University of South Carolina, Virginia, and Miami rounding out the top 5. I believe that Miami is a little overrated being in the top 5 but we will have to see how the season falls to find out the truth. It is nice to see 3 ACC teams in the Top 5.

The Southern Miss baseball program is making some serious progress at Pete Taylor Park. The stadium is getting a facelift for the upcoming season and the Southern Miss Sports Information has posted a new photo gallery on the official site which can be viewed here.

I have been slacking off lately but with the recent holidays and great football games on TV (see Boise State vs Oklahoma), I have not had too much time to be blogging. You can expect me to be blogging more in the near future and especially with the season starting up at the end of the month.
UAB has picked up a very late transfer for the upcoming season in Dustin Colburn who will be playing for the school during the 2007 season. He attended Central Alabama originally but transferred to Shelton Community College for a couple of seasons before deciding to head back up to Division 1 in Alabama-Birmingham. Rivals has posted a new Mailbag which talks about issues with Florida State, Ohio State, Georgia, and East Carolina. Kendall Rogers does an excellent job covering college baseball and check out his mailbag here.
The 2007 Signing period has started for College Baseball. The Boston College Eagles have signed 13 players including nine student-athletes from Massachusetts or Connecticut. This is a sign that Aoki will be focusing on dominating the recruiting trail with New England kids attending BC. We have a bunch of press releases on the rest of the country.
The Memphis Tigers have announced their 2007 schedule. They face some strong competition this upcoming season by taking part in the Service Academies Spring Classic in Millington, Tenn in the second week of the season. They will then host their first ever tournament at Autozone Park in Memphis with Northern Iowa, Eastern Illinois, and Indiana. They will also visit Mississippi State and Clemson in their OOC schedule. They will have to travel to National power Tulane during the Conference USA season in addition to Rice. They will likely finish fourth in the conference behind Rice, Tulane and Southern Miss. The full schedule is available here.
