Top 100 Countdown: 98. Trey Mancini (Notre Dame)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today with Notre Dame sophomore first baseman Trey Mancini who checks in at the 98th spot on our Top 100. He is from Winter Haven, Florida where he attended Winter Haven High School. He played three years of baseball under head coach David Saliba. His senior year saw him hit .480 with 23 runs scored, 10 doubles, six home runs and 31 RBI. He was selected to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association Baseball All-Star Game. Top 100 Countdown: 99. Patrick Cantwell (Stony Brook)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today with Stony Brook senior catcher Patrick Cantwell who is 99th in on our list. The senior has had an outstanding career with the Seawolves which has seen him win multiple conference awards. He played three years of varsity baseball at West Islip HS and was a three-time captain. Top 100 Countdown: 100. Joe Sclafani (Dartmouth)

College Baseball Daily kicks off our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We start off the countdown today at number 100 with Dartmouth senior shortstop Joe Sclafani from Palm City, Florida and attended Jensen Beach High School. He was a four year letter winner in baseball for Coach Todd Belowich. He helped lead the team as the starting shortstop to a 41-14 record as a junior and senior winning the District 14 title and the Regional runnerup in his final two seasons.  Continue reading Top 100 Countdown: 100. 2011 Baseball America Top Prospects for Summer Leagues and Team USA

FROM BASEBALL AMERICA PRESS RELEASE
DURHAM, N.C.–The Southeastern Conference, which has produced college baseball’s last three national champions, dominated Baseball America’s top prospects lists for 20 college summer leagues and Team USA, which have been released at BaseballAmerica.com. The SEC leads all conferences with 24 players on the lists, followed by the Pacific-12 (22 players), the Big 12 (18 players) and the Atlantic Coast (17). Sun Devils to look Different in 2012 Season

Jeff Metcalfe of The Arizona Republic details how the Arizona State Sun Devils will look much different in 2012 season on the field. the team will feature 19 new players and 17 returnees with Deven Marrero leading the squad. Marrero had a solid summer with the 2011 USA Collegiate National team leading the squad in hitting .322 with 14 RBI in 14 games played. He was also named a Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star by hitting .328 with a homer and 11 RBI in 36 total games including the playoffs. The Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star game takes place this evening at Fenway Park. The Cape League All-Star game routinely features the best prospects for the upcoming year’s draft. This year’s All-Star game is no different then usual as many players will go in the first three rounds of the draft next season. Breaking down the CCBL All-Star Game by Conference/Teams

Since the Cape Cod Baseball League announced their 2011 All-Star Game rosters on Friday, lets take a look at what conferences and college programs have had the most success this summer. The leading conference this year is the Pac-10 conference which features eight players from seven different school. Coming in second place is the SEC which has six players from four different schools. Interesting enough, the ACC and Big East conference both have four players in the game this year which speaks to how strong the the Big East over the last couple of seasons. 2011 Cape Cod Baseball League Live Chat on July 29th

College Baseball Daily for the third straight season will be hosting a Live Chat from Fenway Park during the 2011 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star game at Fenway Park in Boston MA on July 29th. The live chat will begin around 5pm as CBD Editor Brian Foley and CBD Sr. Writer Kat Cornetta will be in attendance giving you coverage of this annual event. CBD Column: Checking out 2011 Team USA (Pitchers)

Senior writer Kat Cornetta and myself both had the opportunity to take in a couple of game of the USA Collegiate National Team’s tour throughout New England last week. On Saturday night, we made the trip to Holyoke, Massachusetts to see the Holyoke Blue Sox take on the USA squad but the weather would not agree with us as only one pitch was thrown before the skies opened up. On Sunday evening, the National team made the trek to Lynn, Massachusetts to play against the North Shore Navigators. Team USA walked away with a 4-1 win. The next afternoon the National team took on an NECBL Select squad which won 4-3 at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts. This is the first of a two part series of post focusing on pitchers.
