CBB Column: Top Prep Players in the State of Texas

tylerarndt21Here is a small sampling of the best prep school players in the state of Texas. These prep players are in the middle of making a tough decision on where to play baseball for the next 3-4 seasons. The early signing period officially begins on November 11 and ends eight days later on November 19th. Once they have made their commitment to a school then comes along the June draft where the players could sign a professional contract skipping out on playing college baseball. The players are put in alphabetical order to keep it simple as we will continue this series over the next five days until we preview all 70 kids on our list.

Gerrit Cole leads Team USA to a 3-0 victory over Japan

USA Baseball announces 18U Trials invitees

CARY, N.C. — USA Baseball (USAB) has announced a group of 34 players who will be considered for inclusion on its 2009 18U National Team for international competition. The 34 players, along with 10 alternates, were selected from those who participated this week in the 17th Annual Tournament of Stars, presented by Major League Baseball, at USAB’s National Training Complex in Cary. Top Area Code Games Athletes

ESPN writer Andrew Knepper has a great entry today on the top players in the Area Code games. He puts Ian Krol as one of the top pitching prospects as he throws an 88 MPH fastball and has been outstanding in Long Beach. Chad James is the top left-handed pitcher with his deceptive motion where he reaches 88 MPH with a very good curveball that has a good break ball at 73-76. Continue reading
