Top 100 Countdown: 75. Jason Monda (Washington State)

JasonMondaheadshotCollege Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2013 college baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 75 with Washington State junior Jason Monda. The Olympia, Washington native attended Capital High School. He was a four year letterwinner while being named all-league in three seasons. He was named WCC co-MVP senior year as well as Tacoma News Tribune All-Area first team as a senior. He ended up being drafted in the 32nd round by the Colorado Rockies in the 2010 MLB Draft but went to Washington State to continue his career.

Monda had a solid freshman season with the Cougars hitting .291 with two homers and 20 RBI in 38 games (37 starts).

He played the summer of 2011 in the Cape Cod Baseball League with the Brewster Whitecaps. He played in 32 regular season games hitting .333 with a homer and 16 RBI. He also hit four doubles and triples while stealing 13 bases. He played in the 2011 Cape Cod Baseball League All-Star game where he went 1-3 with an RBI and a stolen base. Baseball America named Monda the 14th best prospect in the CCBL.

The 2012 season was up and down for Monda as he hit .275 with a homer and 18 RBI. He stole six bases in eight attempts.

    he has Game !!! nice to see the coach let him play as a freshman too! ….all too many freshmanare stuck at the back of the bus ,hence some go the Juco route . Monda is quick on his feet i hear !? .

    the Seattle and Vancouver BC area have some terrific baseball players – they play all year long in this area due to the very mild climate ….very under scouted area for the NCAA and MLB for that matter .
