Arkansas releases 2012 Schedule

FAYETTEVILLE – A school record 36 regular season home games, including 20 of the first 23 games at home, and a trip to Houston to participate in the prestigious Houston College Classic highlight the 2012 Arkansas baseball schedule, released on Tuesday.

“I think it’s a great schedule for our fans,” Arkansas head coach Dave Van Horn said. “There are a lot of home games. We play some outstanding non-conference opponents. I think it’s a great schedule and will be very challenging for our team.” Read the rest of this entry »

Rice releases 2012 Schedule

HOUSTON – With no shortage of challenging opponents to be played at home and on the road, the Rice Owls’ baseball schedule for the full 2011-2012 season was announced on Monday (Oct. 10).

The team’s first action is as soon as this Tuesday (Oct. 11) when the Owls travel across town for a fall exhibition to be held at the University of Houston at 4 pm. The Blue & Gray then hosts Texas State on Oct. 16 (Sun.) in a 1 pm exhibition at Reckling Park. Read the rest of this entry »

Top 100 Countdown: 93. Zack Weiss (UCLA)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 93 with UCLA sophomore RHP Zack Weiss. He is a 6’2 210 right hander out of Irvine, California where he attended Northwood High School. He was a two-year varsity baseball letterwinner under head coach Rob Stuart at Northwood High. As a senior, he went 7-5 with a 2.45 ERA, 82 strikeouts, 34 walks and two saves in 65.2 innings. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected him 10th round of the 2010 MLB Draft by the Pittsburgh Pirates.  Read the rest of this entry »

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. - Powered by five innings of no-hit baseball for starting pitcher Chad Martin, Team Cream took a 1-0 advantage in the IU Baseball Cream vs. Crimson Series on Monday. Top 100 Countdown: 94. Andrew Stumph (Texas State)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 94 in Texas State junior Andrew Stumph. The 6’0 210 pound catcher out of Katy, Texas had an outstanding prep career at Katy High School. He picked up four letters under Tom McPherson. He was named All-Greater Houston Co-Newcomer of the Year as a freshman in 2006 as he set a school record with 51 RBIs. He also earned three-time all-state honors and all-American honorable mention in 2008 and 2009 while being named 2009 district MVP. Read the rest of this entry »

October 10th Fall Ball Update

Here is your October 10th Fall Ball Update.

Nebraska: White 12 Red 7

Lincoln – The White team polished off a three-game sweep of the Red squad on Saturday in the Nebraska baseball team’s annual Red-White Series by a score of 12-7. Michael Pritchard, Kash Kalkowski and Michael Siwa each had three hits for the Whites, including two doubles and two RBIs for Kalkowski, as well as a triple and double for Siwa. The Red’s Chad Christensen blasted the first and only home run of the series with a two-out grand slam in the bottom of the eighth inning for his only hit of the game. Read the rest of this entry »

Western Illinois releases 2012 Schedule

MACOMB, Ill. – An appearance last season in the Summit League Tournament and a 20-win season has the Fighting Leathernecks looking forward to a competitive and exciting schedule in 2012.

Virginia Tech’s English Field set for enhancement project
