Top 100 Countdown: 91. Tony Kemp (Vanderbilt)

College Baseball Daily continues our countdown to the start of the 2012 College Baseball season by checking in on the Top 100 Players in the country. We will be providing one player per day until we reach number 1.

We continue the countdown today at number 91 with Vanderbilt sophomore outfielder Tony Kemp. He is a 5’6 165 pounder out of Nashville, Tennessee while attending Centennial High School. Kemp was a four year letter winner in football and baseball while being named All-District selection three years, All-Tournament Team as a junior and senior, and First team All-Midstate as a junior and senior.

Kemp decided to stay home by playing at Vanderbilt under Tim Corbin. Tony ended up appearing 65 games (64 starts) hitting .329 with 58 runs scored and 34 RBI. He was also strong on the base paths stealing 17 bases in 22 attempts. Tony was outstanding defensively throughout his freshman season having zero errors in 93 chances.

He played for the Rochester Honkers in the Northwoods League in the summer of 2011. He played in 35 games hitting .292 with 23 runs scored, 11 RBI, and nine stolen bases.
