ESPN networks will offer a vast schedule of Southeastern Conference baseball and softball games for the 2011 season. The SEC had a successful 2010 season that saw the South Carolina baseball program win the 2010 National Championship and three softball teams advanced to the Women’s College World Series.

ESPNU’s previously announced inaugural Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week will begin Thursday, Apr. 7, at 7:30 p.m. and run seven weeks through May 19. The ESPNU Thursday Night SEC Baseball Game of the Week schedule includes the 2010 national champion South Carolina, SEC Tournament champion LSU and SEC regular-season champion Florida. In addition to the Thursday night games, SEC baseball will have 11 other games, including the SEC Championship Sunday, May 29 on ESPN2.

In addition to South Carolina’s national championship, Florida advanced to the College World Series and eight SEC teams overall earned a NCAA postseason bid. It marked the sixth time since 2000 and the third straight year an SEC team played for the national title.

The SEC softball schedule consists of 11 regular-season games and the entire SEC Championship. The package will also include five teams ranked in the final USA Today/NFCA Top 25 poll, including three appearances by Florida and four by Tennessee. Three SEC Softball Championship quarterfinals, on Thursday, May 12, will air on ESPNU with the final game of the day on ESPN2. Both semifinals on Friday, May 13, will air on ESPNU and the championship game on Saturday, May 14 will be seen on ESPN.

The 2010 season saw three SEC softball teams advance to the Women’s College World Series – Tennessee, Georgia and Florida, and overall nine programs earned a NCAA Championship berth.
