Rowley replaces volunteer assistant George Brumfield, who stepped down after working with the Herd baseball club for the past four seasons.

Rowley was a two-year letterwinner for the Thundering Herd from 2007-08. He was a key contributor to the historic Conference USA tournament journey, scoring the game-winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning against tournament-host Tulane to advance to the championship game in 2007.

The Buffalo, N.Y., native played outfield for two seasons and participated in 104 games for the Herd. He batted .319 as a junior and .289 as a senior, totaling seven homers and 41 RBI while at Marshall.

Before playing for Waggoner, he took the diamond for two years at Erie Community College where his team advanced to the NJCAA World Series in 2005 and NJCAA Regionals in 2006. In his second year at ECC, Rowley batted .410.

Rowley received his degree from Marshall in Sports Management in 2008.
