Merrimack cancels Florida Trip over Incident

MerrimackWarriors Bill Burt of The Eagle Tribune reports that the Merrimack baseball program has canceled the annual trip to Florida after an alcohol incident last Friday night. The school is currently investigating the matter where they have not ruled out hazing.

Merrimack spokeswoman, Kathleen Franzese states the following about the incident:

"Members of the Merrimack College baseball team were found to have violated the Merrimack College student-athlete code of conduct, I do want to stress there was no physical harm to anyone involved resulting from the activities…. But I can’t answer any questions about hazing because we are still investigating."

This is going to be an interesting story to follow over the next few weeks to see what happens with the members of the Warriors baseball program. One of the biggest hazing incidents in recent memory to happen in college athletics was in 1999 when Vermont cancelled the 1999-2000 men’s ice hockey season.
