Oakland releases 2010 Slate

JohnMusachioOakland ROCHESTER, Mich. – A season opening series at defending Southeastern Conference champion Ole Miss, who finished the 2009 season ranked No. 11 in the USA TODAY/ESPN Top-25 poll, along with series at Memphis, Michigan State, and Xavier, and a single game at Notre Dame highlight the non-league portion of the 2010 Oakland University baseball schedule, released on Tuesday.

"We are excited about the challenging non-conference schedule for 2010," said head coach John Musachio. "We have a very young team that will be put to the test, especially early. Year in and year out, we put together the toughest non-conference schedule possible. This year is no exception, with early weekend series at Ole Miss, Memphis and Xavier."

The Golden Grizzlies will open the season with 18 games on the road, playing many of the aforementioned teams as well as Wright State, Dayton, Indiana State, Toledo, and Western Michigan, before opening the home slate on Friday, April 2 against Concordia.

The Summit League portion of the schedule will open on Friday, April 9, as the Golden Grizzlies travel to Tulsa, Okla. for a four-game set at 12-time defending league champion Oral Roberts. League opponents visiting the OU Baseball Field this season will be South Dakota State, Centenary, IPFW, and Southern Utah.

The season opener at Ole Miss will be played on Friday, Feb. 26 at Oxford/University Stadium.
