Wes Dorrell leaves Cal Poly for Fresno Pacific

837-S1dorrell8-5.mi_embedded.prod_affiliate.76 Wes Dorrell who is entering his last year of baseball eligible has decided to leave Big West member Cal Poly for NAIA member Fresno Pacific. According to an article in The Tribune out of San Luis Obispo CA, Dorrell had a falling out with head coach Larry Lee. Dorrell stated the following about his transfer “A fallout with Cal Poly coach Larry Lee, a conflict of interest, to put it in the best words possible.” Larry Lee refutes this claim by stating in the article that there was never a fallout with Dorrell in his eyes.

The reason why this transfer is important is that Dorrell was expected to have a strong 2009 season as he was named to the Brooks Wallace Award Watch List and has been a two time member of the All-Big West Conference second team. He finished this past season with a .313 average with five homers and 42 RBI which was good enough for third on the squad.
