West Coast League recap for July 6

West Coast League logoThe Corvallis Knights lead the West Division with a 16-4 record. On July 3, they drew a league-record crowd of 3,506 against the Bend Elks. The Knights won 9-2; Matt Andriese (UC-Riverside) started and got the win, went six innings, allowed five hits, struck out seven. The winning run came on a home run by Dylan Jones (Mount Hood CC) in the bottom of the fourth. Richie Jiminez (Riverside CC) leads the league in hitting with a .429 average. James Nygren (Oregon State) has a record of 2-0, 2.33 ERA. Andriese is 2-0, 0.60 ERA.

The Wenatchee Apple Sox lead the East Division with a 17-7 record. They lost two of three to the Kelowna Falcons over the weekend. They also got a good crowd on July 3, 1,732 in a 4-3 loss. Kyle Johnson (Washington State) leads the Apple Sox in hittin with a .315 average. Their leading pitcher is Chad Wagner (Hawaii Pacific) , 2-0 with a 0.96 ERA. Wagner is the league’s ERA leader.
