(Victoria, Tx) The Victoria Generals of The Texas Collegiate League are proud to announce that the League has selected Mike Davis as Player of the Week, and Willie Kempf as Pitcher of the Week. The TCL press release is included below.

Player of the Week

Mike Davis, Victoria Generals

What Victoria’s Mike Davis may have lacked in quantity last week, he certainly made up for in quality. The Generals first baseman batted .500 (4-for-8) on the week and reached base in two-thirds of his plate appearances. He also cracked his first home run of the season, contributing to his league-high five RBI on the week. The Minnetonka, Minn., native is coming off an all-conference junior season at Lambuth University.

Pitcher of the Week

Willie Kempf, Victoria Generals

Kempf made it a sweep for Victoria by taking a no-hitter into the seventh inning on June 29 against Coppell. The Baylor junior was lifted after giving up a lone run-scoring single, with eight strikeouts against two walks. Although it was his first decision of the season, Kempf has been effective all summer. The Castroville native is 1-0 with a 2.91 ERA, and he ranks among the league leaders with 30 strikeouts in 21.2 innings.
