DeLand, Fla. – Stetson baseball has announced its spring additions to the 2010 roster. All four of the signees, Kyle Campbell, Justin Pickens, James Rasmussen, and Miles Rubinski come to Stetson from Florida high schools.

Kyle Campbell is a third baseman/catcher who graduated from Santa Fe Catholic High School in Lakeland, Florida. He is a three-time All-State performer. Campbell is a versatile player who will provide a solid bat from the right side of the plate. Campbell also played quarterback on the Hawks’ football team.

“Kyle is a versatile player who can play the corners as well as provide depth behind the plate”, said Stetson Associate Head Coach Mitch Markham.

Justin Pickens is a right handed pitcher from Seminole High School in Sanford, Fla. In 2009 Pickens recorded 78 strike outs in 65 innings pitched in one of the most competitive high school districts in Florida. He played for legendary coach Mike Powers.

“Justin has a good young arm”, said Markham. “He is a very athletic hard throwing right-hander who should be able to come in and give us some quality innings as a freshman.”

James Rasmussen is an outfielder out of Tallahassee Chiles High School. He led Chiles to the 5A State Championship game in Port St. Lucie. James brings a nice combination of arm strength, speed and power to the Hatters’ outfield. He may remind Stetson fans of a young Justin Bass.

“We are excited to have James join the Stetson Baseball Program”, said Markham. “He has the ability to compete for one of the corner outfield positions as a freshman.”

The final newcomer is Miles Rubinski, an outfielder from Cape Coral, Fla. and Ida S. Baker HS. He can run and hit and he should compete for playing time in centerfield.

“Miles is a speedy outfielder who can play all three outfield spots”, said Markham. “He should get his chance to compete for time in the outfield next season.
