The UC Irvine Baseball program will host its annual Alumni Weekend Feb. 5-7, 2009.
Kicking off the weekend will be the third annual Grip `Em & Rip `Em Golf Tournament, held at the Coyote Hills Golf Course in Fullerton, Calif. The golf tournament, held Thursday, Feb. 5, is a scramble format with baseball-themed, on-course contests and the first-ever helicopter ball drop. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 11:30 am followed by dinner and silent auction at the conclusion of play. The Grip `Em & Rip `Em Golf Tournament is the single largest fundraiser for the UC Irvine Baseball program each year.
Friday, Feb. 6, UCI baseball alumni are invited to Anteater Ballpark for a casual batting practice beginning at 5:00 p.m. with the current Anteater staff.
The three-day event will be capped off by the annual Alumni Game Saturday (Feb. 7) at 12:30 p.m. A record 70 alumni and two former coaches participated in 2008. The Alumni Game is free and open to the public. Following the game, there will be a hosted barbecue on the concourse of Anteater Ballpark for UCI baseball alumni and families as well as the current team and coaches.
