Paul Cruz Named SSC Player of the Week

TAMPA, Fla. – Senior outfielder Paul Cruz earned Sunshine State Conference Player of the Week honors with his 6-13 series against #27 Lynn University, including a 4-5 performance with a double and a solo home run in the series finale to lead the Spartans to a 6-5 win over the Fighting Knights.

A native of nearby Brandon, Fla., Cruz is leading all Spartan hitters with a .386 batting average this season, and also leads the team in doubles (10), triples (3), and is tied with Nolan Brannon for the team lead in RBI with 30. The 5-11, 190-pound outfielder also leads the Spartans with 14 multi-hit games, and nine multi-RBI games.

Cruz is the second member of the Spartans to earn Sunshine State Conference honors this season, and the first to be named player of the week after Josh Bowman was honored as SSC Pitcher of the Week on March 24.
