Baseball America has released their preseason top 25 list. The full ranking is available here.

Leading the way are the UCLA Bruins in the top spot. Arizona, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss and North Carolina landed in spots 2 through 5, while Missouri, Oregon State, Michigan, ASU and Miami rounded out the top 10.

I guess we can debate all day long who belongs in the top 10 or 5 but it does get me to thinking about why these guy do not do their homework!

In the past, I’ve quibbled with some of BA’s ranking, but usually respected the effort. This preseason ranking is a total joke– from top to bottom. OSU and Michigan ranked 7 – 10 places ahead of Rice and Texas? ASU all the way down to #9 (with OSU and Michigan ahead of them)? Mizzou is going to be good, but #6 in the country? And if you are a premium subscriber and read their writeups, they clearly did very little primary research…and I very much doubt they took the effort to speak with the coaches. In fact, at least from the Rice writeup, I’m pretty sure Mr. Fitt did not speak to Coach Graham.
